Community participation

Help build the case.

We oppose Acorn’s proposed further housing uphill of French Furze. Share your view through the survey, send evidence for review or join the community board. You are welcome whether you agree with the campaign or see things differently.

The community board

Start with what you know.

Discuss drainage, roads, bus access, the landscape and neighbouring homes. Start a topic, reply to a neighbour or share a public document. Supporting views, opposing views, corrections and evidence that challenges the campaign’s case are all welcome.

You can read without logging in. Sign up or log in to Discourse to post and reply. This is a separate website, with its own account, community guidelines and privacy information.

01 / Your current view

What would you like considered?

This voluntary survey is open to all views. Choose your broad area, current position and the topics you want examined. No name or contact details are requested. Nick may use the aggregate results on this website and in a collective planning objection, including responses that disagree with the campaign.

Checking whether the forms are available…
Where do you live? (required)
What is your current view of further housing on the uphill land above French Furze? (required)

Detailed plans have not been verified here. “Undecided” and “Need more information” are both valid responses.

Which topics should be examined? (optional)

Select any that matter to you, or leave blank. Selecting a topic does not imply opposition or prove harm.

Only aggregate results are public. A browser check limits repeat responses but cannot verify identity or residency. Privacy and browser checks.

03 / Help check the evidence

Share an observation or source.

Give one clear account or public source. Say what you observed directly and what you heard from someone else. Submissions are reviewed privately and are not published automatically.

Your information

Leave blank if unknown. If the date is approximate, explain that in the description.

20–4,000 characters. Give a general location. Do not include names, contact details, precise home addresses, health information or allegations about identifiable individuals.

Use a public HTTP or HTTPS page. Do not share private folders, access codes, confidential correspondence or links containing personal information.

Nick reviews submissions before deciding whether to use a non-identifying summary and checked public link. Publication and verification are not guaranteed. We do not ask for contact details, so follow-up may be impossible. This form does not notify the council or emergency services. How information is handled.

Make your contribution useful

  • Say what you observed. Include the date or approximate time, the general place and what happened. Distinguish something you saw from something you were told.
  • Link to the source. For a public plan, report or decision, share its link, title and the relevant page or drawing number. Explain what it supports and any limits.
  • Explain the planning concern. Describe how further development could affect drainage, safe access, privacy or the landscape. Include evidence that suggests a concern can be resolved.

A clear observation is useful even if you do not know the technical explanation. Please label uncertainty and keep discussion respectful.

Your forum post is public

Anyone may read or copy a public post, and it may appear in search results. Your forum username appears with your contribution. Do not post private contact details, exact home addresses, confidential documents or photographs that identify other people without their permission.

If something needs private discussion first, email nick@seadogs.dev. Please describe the issue before sending personal records or sensitive attachments.

From discussion to a planning objection

Nick Lawton will review contributions and compile relevant evidence for a collective planning objection. Public posts may be reviewed, checked and summarised for that purpose. Material added to the site’s evidence library is checked before publication; a forum post is not automatically a verified finding.

We will distinguish the campaign’s position from other views and keep relevant counterevidence in view. Taking part does not mean that you support the campaign or agree to be named as an objector.

We will not include your name, other identifying details or photographs in a planning representation without agreeing that separately with you. Please read the privacy and participation information.

You can also speak for yourself

Posting on the forum or using either form does not submit a planning comment to South Hams District Council. No application reference for Acorn’s proposed development has yet been verified on this site. When an application is available, check its reference and consultation deadline and send any personal representation through the council’s official process.
